Hi , what ich meds do you use? are there any that do not stain my tank blue?
I have ich in my 21g and my 55g. I noticed today that the ich is in the early stages (very few white "salt" like spots on fish)

I want to treat but :

1) I dont want to stain my tank or ornaments
2) Catching the sick fish and puting them in to my 10g "sick fish" tank is not too practical since I have 11 rummy nose tetras (55g) and 17 neon tetras(21g) with early stages of ich
3)will ich meds hurt my plants too?

My priority is treating the fish but I just want to get more info before I do; I am going to the fish store in the next 15 mins so any quick replies are much appreciated.

Also, I thought that ich mainly effected fish in bad water quality, my water is and allways is good, (ammonia and nitrite <0.1 ppm, and nitrate is 5 to 8 ppm) Ph = 7.2 KH =90

Thanks

Try "Anti whitespot" by Interpet, i had ich over a year ago now but i remember it was a very good med and did not stain the water or ornements and the plants survived through it just fine :thumbs: .
Whitespot often enters the aquarium when you buy fish that are carrying the parasite and are not quarentined, the parasite is not always visable on the fish due to the parasites life cycle stages so its best to treat every fish that have that has come into contact with any infected fish as the chances are they are infected too now, there are some good ich info pages on the forum like this if you want to do a search as its not a very straight forward desease to treat at times;

Thanks for your reply, but I can not get that in Canada. Canada is very strict with medications and their approval; I just wish they(Canada food and drug act people) had different gidelines for fish and people but they do not seem too....

i used white spot plus by interpet too seems like a good product :) took about 10 days and all was clear
im sure there are many other good treatments too good luck
