I've got a 55g tank 12"x12"x4' (estimate) mounted in the wall and now my fish are covered with ich. Got two 2.5" oscars, a clawed frog 2.5" and a pleco 2" in the tank. One of the oscars is going to a new home when he is better.

I've been treating, water temp up to 80-82 and did around a 25% water change on day three of treatement and last night again on day 5. REmoved the filter and tried not to do anything in the tank to stress the fish anymore than needed. I'm keeping the lights off more to.

Meds being used: made by SERA, called Costapur and I followed the directions to the tee......

Water tests gave me these results:

Low PH 7.4
High PH 7.7 -7.8
KH 30mg/l
GH 40mg/l
nitrite 01-03
amonia 0-0.6 (on the lower scale but not 0)

I'm starting to get stressed...what do I do? I've been reading on this site and I'm starting to go cross eyed.....

I've got another small tank that I could move the oscars into and have a smaller amount of water to treat...is this a good idea? I could at the same time tear down the 55g and clean everything.

Could you give a general location for proper recomendations of medications? :thanks: :thanks:

directions on the bottle for the meds go like this.

Normal dosage: on the first and 3d day add 1ml or 22 dropsfor each 40 litres (10.5 US gallons) of aquarium water, in severe cases dose again on the 5th and 7th day.

A slight increase in tempurature and aeration at the same timewill speed up the healing process. During treatment remove filter carbon and switch off UV sterilizers!
After having finished treatment we recommend conducting a partial water change and /or filtering with SERA SUPER CARBON. To help the fish increase their naturel resistance ti the diseases, SERA FISHTAMIN (fish vitamins) should also be used.

When you say you have removed the filter, have you removed the whole thing?? Or just the carbon sponge (if you had one)

I can see that you have an Ammonia and nitrite spikes, which is never good and most likely contributing to fish stress, which will give the ICH the upper hand.

My advice would be to target the cause of the spikes to, as you are unlikely to be successful in treating the ICH whilst the fish are this stressed.

Also, please measure your tank, the measurements you have given would indicated a very small tank, closer to 3 gallons that 55 - Overdosing ICH meds will also cause real issues.

Hope this helps

Aaron
