Hallo, have posted twice regarding my situation, didn't get any advice on second one?

Cardinals dying, look like crap.

Gouramis and corys still look unaffected.

Please help, what's going on?!

I found that Protozin by Waterlife worked wonders at getting rid of whitespot when I had it (or at least, my fish had it, I was perfectly healthy). You should be able to get this from most decent LFS. Just follow the instructions to the letter.

The thing with whitespot is that you need to treat the whole tank, because the protozoa are only susceptible to the medication when they are in the free swimming stage of their life. If you move the fish to another tank, the free swimming bugs will then infect the remaining fish.

If what other threads have said is true - Protozin cannot be used until they've dropped off the fish. I have lost 5 cardinals so far but the gourami and corys remain absolutely fine and in good health...

I'm baffled!!!

I've raised the water temp to 29oC and will seek to add protozin once the ich have moved into the next stage of their life cycle.

Any other ideas please?

You can't predict when the ich is in its free swimming stage so the meds need to be there all the time. Start straight away and follow the instructions exactly.

You've misinterpreted slightly. The protozoa are only susceptible to medications (all meds, not just Protozin) when they are in the free-swimming stage. As Prime Ordeal says, there's no way of knowing when they start to get become free-swimming, so the medication needs to be in the water as soon as possible. THe instructions also say to to continue the treatment even if all signs of the disease have gone. THis is important.

+1 on the Protozin. DO NOT WAIT. they will die. Also do very through gravel/sand vacs. the eggs lie on the substrate and eventually hatch, re infecting the fish.

Add correct dose of Protozin, daily substrate vacs-w/c and slowly raise the temp to 30 deg. GOOD LUCK xx

None of my LFS have waterlife protozin!!

Hoping that keeping the temperature elevated will continue to help - confused as to why only the cardinals are affected?

I have only got 3 cardinals out of an original 12. I cannot find any Protozin anywhere.

Help!!

My gourami and corys are absolutely fine - should I give up on the rest of the cardinals and transfer the rest back to their normal tank?

Really need some advice now, desperately worried!

Travelled out of town - managed to get some protozin yesterday - that's day 1 and 2 completed, will be sucking up debris this morning. The cardinals are looking much better and perkier.

When my cardinals had ich all of mine died and I lost 3 otos and whilethe other fish either had 1-3 spots or none at all buy every card had at least 5-10 and up to 25.
