Why did you remove the plants?
The only way to guarantee they do not bring Ich back is to leave them out of the tank for long enough so that any parasites die off. Not sure how long this would take, I am guessing around 2-4 weeks? Ich does not come from plants directly, though I guess it is possible they could carry it in if they came from an infected water source.
