I bought this fish labeled as a blue ahli 2 days ago but I just had someone tell me that it’s a iceberg because electric blues don’t have the white stripe? Any opinions on this guy??
Ph is around 7.8 to 7.9 I cannot pin point. And GH, I have not tested lately and cannot at the moment since I am not home. But I know that it’s at a suitable spot. Now as for the fire mouth, he is doing just fine in my peacock and hap tank, and as well as my 1 Jack Dempsey. They all get along and show no sign of stress. Yes in the wild they are used to their own parameters but these are store bred fish. Breeders just breed and breed fish in the same water to the point where they start getting used to it and be fine with sharing different parameters. And of course the water will not be exactly pin point to a certain number but can be in a area where they can thrive in. I know some believe in the rule of not mixing contents. But honestly we do as we desire, as long as the fish are not getting harmed. That’s what I believe in, it’s possible, just takes more work to keep all happy. But if you actually dedicate yourself like I do then it will be fine. So yes I do keep American/ African tank but they all thrive together and the only aggression I see is between my peacocks not my Americans. And for the Ahli, well as I mentioned before, I did get him now 3 days ago and is still getting comfortable so color may be off. But I’m person he looks like a light sky blue and my lighting isn’t strong enough since I only have the 60 inch Fluval aqua sky on my 125 is gallon, which only covers the middle front of the tank. The fish's colour could be off due to water chemistry. What is the pH and GH of the water?
It should be around 300ppm GH and pH above 7.6
The firemouth cichlid prefers softer water.
