Hi guys iv got a female holding eggs for about a week now and need to separate her so i can get the best out of the litter of eggs, shes a wild caught one and so is he, but iv heard people putting the female in a small holding net but they seem to me to be quite small, and no where for her to hide,

will she be ok in them,

even tho i have 5 tanks i have no room anywhere to put her on her own, as my only spare empty tank has just had a yellow lad pop out 11 babies too,

any help would be great guys

Lee

If you put the female in the tank with lab fry, there shouldn't be any problem. She wont eat till she spit's.

Agreed, the breeder traps should never be used with mbuna as it stresses them out too much. :good:

yeah, this mornign i decided to put the yellow lab babies in a breeding tank floating in the main tank and the holding female in her own tank so she can chill and release them without getting stressed, she better hurry up tho i think my other wild female has started to hold,

this ice blue red top male is a randy thing,

cheers tho guys for the advice

Just to warn you the adults can suck the fry right through the mesh on those hanging traps  , personally I'd just put them in with the holding female, it's won't bother her.

Yeah I no what you mean! I have put the babies in those plastic floating baby tanks and they
All seem to be doing fine ! The holding female seems to be getting bigger and bigger around her mouth so
I'm hopeing for a large batch! Then my other female isn't eating at the moment either so I may have a que forming for the baby
Tank haha!

Saturday I will be buying a new male and 2 females too so I can't wait
