i wonder what the oldest saltwater fish is do you have any ideas -_-

Groupers and wrasses are reportedly long lived. One spurdog was tagged and recaught after 34 years. Turtles, then man, than blue whale. SH

Seahorses have also been around since the dinosaurs.

How about celocanths, which are actually the anscestors of dinosaurs, and still around much as they were back then.

Edit: althought they are not saltwater anymore lung fish like the african lungfish were around before lobefinned fish like the celocanth and even before cartilagenous fish as well if I recall correctly, then there are salps which are not fish but are fish like and the earliest segmented cordates, they can be found in shallow waters in florida althought i think you'll have a hard time getting your hands on them.

"I totally agree, no newcomer to the marine world should ever be tempted to keep anenomes, they are expert only, live for centuries (so who takes care after you are dead?) and require perfect water conditions." Navarre

Anenomes might be oldest. Centuries is a long time.

edit: I'm stupid. The question was what "fish"...sorry =)
