I Woke Up And Now I Have 2 Plecos

So I woke up and found 2 baby sailfin plecos in my 30g. Looks like the parents decided to just go and buy fish for my tank. They're cute but the horror of having 2 pooping machines in the tank with my 5 angelfish. It looks like I'll be doing water changes twice a week now. Atleast they were smart enough to buy some new ornaments so they both have hiding spots. So how fast do these boys grow before I gotta rehome them?

i think if i remember rightly they grow bigger than commons (12-18inches) and as you said are very very messy, you'll get a better responce in the pleco section

to be honest id try and swap them for a plec more suited to your tank size right away.


i have a mate who had 2 bristlenose plecs in a 2ft tank and i managed to talk him into letting me have one cos i knew 2 would be too much.


well his heater recently broke and ive now got both BN plecs and the one i had is twice the size of the one he kept.


anyway, point of the story is they get stunted alot quicker then people seem to think and anyway, theres no real way of telling when the tank size is stunting them so its best just not to do it.

yes its porbs best to take them back asap
and looking at your sig you have a royal in there, they also grow quite big, heres some more info on Royals

I'm not taking nothing back. I didn't get them. Lol. They're taking them back. Oh and the royal is not there anymore. Need to update the signature. If they refuse to take them back I dunno then. >.>

I hope that measurements not refering to common plecos as they've been known to hit 24" easily... My pleco right now is 20"...
