ok the title says it all. i want to plant my tank but don't know how to. not like the whole put into the substrate kind of thing, but i have a tank new world hybrids and some hybrids. it is in my sig (and yes i am planning ot get a bigger tank, i juut need to get my own place first and then i plan to set up like a 300-500 gal tank for them to roam it will be so cool... i hope). but any help you could give please let me know. i don't know what plants ot do or what kind of things i need.

the tank stats are (if needed)

ammonia:0

nitrite:0

nitrate: test is broken and never got a new one, but tank is fully cycled so i assume it is good

pH: 7.4

temp: 72 (at night) - 80 (during the day- mostly max at 78 depending mostly on sunlight hitting tank and heating it more)

substrate: "tubing sand", pretty fine sand with pebbles and course peices throughout (can be found at hardware stores during the winter to weigh down truck beds)

decorated with fake plants (soft of course), a round rock from the stream, and a nice chunk of bogwood (that is still leaking tannins- but i don't mind)

is there any more info i need to give?

thanks for any help you guys give

thanks for the info. i've had live plants in with my JB before i upgraded and got a JD so i knwo they would be good with them, but they were jsut those "banana plant" things so idk.

banana plants are my extent in keeping plants. outside of my fishie problems (which i can find temp homes for until i get another tank set jsut for them) what would you suggest for a nice begginer ideal situation for general new world cichlid life?

thanks again
