i am wanting to get a pair of angelfish but i know next to nothing about them.could someone give me some info about taking care of and possibly breeding them? and if you have any pics of color variants could you post them here? thanks.
In order to get a pair, you will either have to buy an established pair or buy a group of around 6 and wait for a pair to form, then rehome the rest. For a pair you need a minimum of a 30g tall tank, tall being at least 18" to allow them enough space to swim. Angels are unsexable until a pair forms and you see their breeding tubes to tell which is which, hence you cant buy a male and a female unless they are already a pair.
i have had angels for 2 years in relatively hard water
they have spawned
i think the most important things are make sure there are tall plants so they have cover
dont get 3 angels because 1 will get picked on
they llllllllllloooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeee bloodworms
(and brine shrimp)
they also will eat any flake food you give them
they have great personalities and will get to know you
they are good tank mates for many fish except be careful around very small tetras
water changes are crutial
water changes are crutial
water changes are crutial
also for breeding them it is definitely not that hard
water changes and live food will trigger spawns
they like to spawn on filter intakes, sword leaves and horizantal pieces of slate
