I Want Puffers

i have i 120L what will i need and what puffers will fit in it?

Do you want fresh water or brackish?

Freshwater you could have South American Puffers or a Potato Puffer.

Brackish you could have one Green Spotted Puffer or two Figure Eight Puffers.

i was thinkin more about a Green Spotted Puffer look alot nicer than the fresh water puffers the only fresh water puffer that i like i think it is called a mbu but i no they max out about 2ft and dont have the room for a tank keep one.

its more the keepin the amount of salt righ that i am bothered about.

Its not as difficult as it seems. That was one of the things that worried me when I started my brack tanks. Just get a hydrometer and routinely check the water. Once I got the salinity right I've not had a hard time keeping it where it needs to be.

I personally like both the figure 8s and the green spotted so to pick between the two is hard lol. I have one GSP in my tank atm and he's very interesting to watch.

If you are going to get a puffer be prepared for a lot of water changes.

They are very messy eaters - just a word of warning.

Ok make sure you keep them in seperate tank to the puffer especially if you get a GSP as they need brackish water.

If you don't have one I would buy a gravel vac puffers poo quite a lot (well mine do anyway).

Invest in some ramshorn snails from eBay and keep them in a seperate tank - they should breed so you can continue supplying snails to your puffer to keep the beak trimmed.

I feed my puffers snails daily.

I would personally prefer the green spotted puffers because of the looks but they both have interesting personalities. I just rang now if my lfs has any fw puffers and he said yeah the green spotted puffers and I asked him how about any puffers that don't need brackish later and he just replied no they will be fine in just fresh water
There is a real big difference from the lfs information you receive to this forum lol.

You just need to make sure that you know if you're getting a fw or brackish puffer as if its in fw then you will need to acclimatize it properly. Is the tank setout already suitable for brackish fish as it would be best to start off with freshwater if you can only find gsp puffers kept in fw. Then you can slowly turn it into brackish.

Also try and make the tank interesting for them meaning the layout of the decoration inside because when I had mine he used to swim up & down which is a sign of boredom.

For feeding a good source of food is snails and helps with the beak, but also try live brine shrimp as it will entertain them trying to catch them and will also entertain you.
