My tiger barbs, khuli loaches, and rainbow shark are great in their 55 gallon tank, but I want more!!! But i'm worried its going to get too much.

I have currently

12 Tiger Barbs
3 Khuli loaches
1 Rainbow Shark (Funny how he chases the barbs but leaves the Loaches alone They all share one happy cave!)

Think it'll be safe to add some other community fish? If so what would go well?

Well you should go through the 1 gallon per 1" fish rule. currently you have about 20" of fish which means you can get more fish :good: . I would not go with long finned fish as the might be nipped. Tiger barbs generaly don't fin nip if kept in a large shoal which you have , but I would not run the risk. and the shark usally don't get along with fish the same type of colour or markings :sly: .

Tom.

Think id go for Gouramis too!

I think they'd be fine if you have a tight fitting cover - if the barbs do bother them, the hatchets will jump, and they're some of the best jumpers in the hobby.

There's no way I'd put gouramis in with tiger barbs. Hatchetfish, rasboras, danios, and platies would work though. And definately get more kuhlis; I'd make of a group of 8+.

Agreed get a few mor khuli's as they might be a shoaling fish as such but like to be in groups!. Id add some sort of ram or a pair of firemouths :D?

isn't that too much for my tank? Sure they just hide all day, but seems bit too much still... I'll get 2 more then.

For kuhlis? No, they are skinny bodied fish and really don't follow that inch-per-gallon rule. Plus if you don't get a big group, they really won't ever be happy (i.e. active).

Something else = Danios

don't put hatchets in with barbs, they're waaay to active and stressy. the hatchets need calm tankmates.
