Well I've got a Juwell 70 L tank had it since Feb, 60cm high, 45cm deep

Still got some fish/lost some fish since then....but I my question is.

I really want an Angel Fish (just 1) but from everything I've been reading on here it's probably not a good idea, however this little demon keeps telling me to get one, coz I see them in the shop & just wanna buy one.

My current stock is :-

6 danios
3 Red eyed tetra
1 dwarf Guarimi
1 Cory
1 Bristlenose Catfish

C'mon ppl of this forum :- Tell me the truth, should I forgot the idea with this tank or shall i take a chance ????

Ur ideas

What type of danios do you have? Your cory needs friends.

looks like 3 zebra and 3 leopard from the sig,

yep you definitely need more cories
as for the angel, you have 3 very fin nippy fish in the 2 species of danio and the red-eyed tetra, so i'd say no simply because the angel is likely to get picked on a lot!

Edit: I would also say your tank is too small for an angel

Fraid its a no mate, might be able to pull it off if it were a lone tank mate but when in a well stocked tank with nippy and messy fish its unlikely to work.

Agreed, another no to the angel I'm afraid. I also feel that really your tank is too small for danios, they are very active and do far better in a longer tank. Your tetras should be in a school of 6+ as should your cories but you don't have room to do that. You are over stocked with your current stock already so I'm not surprised you have suffered deaths and they are far from being in ideal school sizes as mentioned. If it were me I would lose the tetras as they can reach 2.5" each and keep the danios even though your tank is not great for them. I would also lose the bristlenose as you probably never see it anyway then add 4 cories. You will then be about perfectly stocked.

OK, OK just as i thought - No Angel Fish

Well the danios were my 1st purchase, they have been fine since Feb - but yes they do rip round the tank at an annoying rate.

I did have 4 corys at one stage but 3 have snuffed it, so I'm planning to get some more in the near future.

I don't fancy "losing" the tetras coz there one of my fav's, I would prefer to "lose" the danios if i had too coz of the constant bombing around.

Also the catfish is pretty active & i see it all the time.

The guarami thats been in about 2 mths is aint looking to great, so might be flushed soon too.

How about this for a plan

buy 3 new redeyes making 6,
losing the danios completly
4 new corys

If so, how do u go about losing fish ??? I don't no anyone who has a tank & i dont fancy premeditated danio murder.

wat u think ?

So you want to kill a fish that looks sick. Well if you were to be killed because you look sick would you rather it be

Slowly, by being flushed down a large toilet or quickly by drugs or decapitation?

Personally I'd rather die quickly and I think your fish would too.

Don't get it twisted...Wat I was sayin (Which obviously went over ur head) is that the guarami isnt looking to well so I'm thinking it could die soon unfortunately...at that point i would flush it.

Do you really think that i would post that I was gonna kill fish on a Public Fish Keepers Forum ....

Take ur pills & move on...

Thks

Sorry but the way you worded your post it did sound like you were just going to flush the fish before it died. I thought the same until I read this post.

Fine OK...The way it was worded may lead some ppl to initially think that. My humble apologies

However if u read the whole post, I was responding to someone who talked about "losing" fish. I initially thought that was a bit distasteful but then before i responded I realised what the advise was.

Can we get back on topic & offer me any advise...pls

Your lfs may take the danio's off your hands. Failing that you could offer them for free on craigslist or freecycle. You may have a little more luck getting help without such an abrasive attitude.

Wat are these ?.....Mr Moral highground....

Hey sizzla01, back on topic, as you say . . .

Any chance of another tank???? :) Sounds like the desire for angelfish and a bigger home for the danios is a perfect excuse to me!
Another potential case of Multiple Tank Syndrome may be striking! :)

Not sure that danios/angels are the perfect mix, but the danios tend to stay at the top and I don't think would harass angels. Say a 55g (~220 litre) tank? You could have a nice group of angels, and add a few more danios for a larger school, and they'd love the room to swim! It would also lighten the load on your current tank, which I agree is over-stocked.

And yes, you need more corries. I would bet good money that one alone will expire before it's time . . .

A bigger tank is an option. Even if you bumped up to say a 30 Gallon you could then keep all of your current stock + have room for more. Certainly worth considering. Glad you see your Bristlenose more than I see mine. In my heavily planted 33 gal I only see him once or twice a week! In your current tank you have room for 5 tetras which you should aim for as they are schooling. I would prefer to see them in a bigger tank but you can just about get away with them. Team these up with 5 cories and depending on what species of cory they are you will be pretty much fully stocked I'm afraid. The problem here is that you don't then have room for your dwarf gourami or Bristlenose. If you want to keep these then you can't have the cories.

decisions, decisions.....

New tank wins me thinks.

Well I will give u fine ppl a little update.

After this post & advice received...I decided to take my 6 Danio's back to the LFS, then got 3 cherry barbs to help fill the void.

I have also unfortanely lost my guarami and got 4 new friends for my single lonely cory.

I'm currently deciding on a new bigger tank, something like a 180 Litre. But not for 6 (ish) months.

Would it be feasible to get a baby Angel in my current set up and transfer my whole setup into a bigger tank in say 6 mths time.

Wat do u reckon ????
