My tank's been set up for about a month and a half and still no algae. It's even by a window, but w/blinds. I think my shark eats it all if any since he constantly cleans everything, he also scours the glass for stuff.

If i get a bristlenose pleco and feed it sinking pellets or food w/algae, would it be happy? Especially since it'll be w/my slightly territorial shark that spends most of his time on the bottom. He usually leaves bigger fish alone or if they don't look a lot like himself.

as long as you have algae tabs a BN should be fine..................usually the aggressive fish leave the plecos alone.............

I've had my 29 gallon set up for only 3 weeks now and the algae is starting to come on real strong now!

I have my light on more than 12 hours a day though,........I probably shouldn't, but trust me if algae is what you're looking for then leave your light on all night for a couple nights a week and longer the other days of the week than you usually do and you'll get algae  :alien:

Good luck getting some of what I'm trying to get rid of

You can get a pleco and supplement the diet...green beans I hear is a favorite...we have some algae in our tank, but I still stick in a couple algae wafers every other day or so, and our BN also eats shrimp pellets.....hope this helps

I might be getting a BN but my algae hardly ever grows, however I have seen the BN's suck on bloodworm as well as algae wafers so theres always the other alternative. :)

It's not very nutritious for them to eat that kind of stuff. If you get 1 u should get algae wafers or give him some veggies :p

Another way is to get bogwood and to stick it in see-through containers and leave it in direct sunlight. In two days it will be covered with algae, then you just drop it in the tank and the BN will eat of it. What you can do is have 5 going at a time and you will not run out. Good ehh?
