I Think They Like Me Now....

I can not get my hands into the tank for whatever reason....vacum gravel, getting water to check levels, without theses fish practicaly jumping into my hand and burbling around, they think Im going to give them peas again I think.


or am I not feeding them enough? I am going threw a mini cycle because my power was off and the filter box dried up, water stats are all staying between 0-.25 for ni and a, na20-same as my well water, and ph8.2. I am doing 1 or 2 daily water changes to keep things ok till the levels are 0.

it is a 20 gallon, 5 female platys, 2 female guppys- 1 of which I need to rehome cause shes nippy to any one smaller then her, a tiny cat fish of some kind, and the male guppy is recouping in the 5 gallon hospital tank.

they get a tiny tiny mix of both tropical flakes and tropical chipsonce a day(I am tryign to keep the cycle from goign nuts), and I now know they like vegies...so how often or how much peas should they be eating? and how many tiems a day once the cycle is done with the flake and chips?

anyone i have ever known with a fish tank feeds small amounts of food two to three times a day.

i feed mine three times a day with small amounts of tropical flakes and ones a week they get frozen blood worms and they don't seem to be quite as nippy with the others or jump at me when i have to do anything to the tank.

thats kinda what I was thinking of doing...flakes/chips 2 or 3 times a day and peas once or twice a week.

I was the typical newbie and jumped into fish...then learned about cycling, so right now I am trying to get theses guys threw this cycle with as little a/ni super spikes made as possible, hence the feeding light.

that would be great if once I increased the feedings she stopped being a pest...because right now I dont trust her enough to left the male back in the tank.

you could also try increasing the guppy count. i had a few fish that were nippy and then did more research on them and found some can be more aggressive if they are schooled in groups too small.

with this female guppy...the more of her own kind the worse...shes a little crazy. I thinkshe may go live in teh 1 gallon by herself.

also sadly I have found that the quality and hardyness of guppys I can get around here is bad....they die real easy...and due to my stupidity I had kept replacing them at first.

maybe she's just different from the rest.

sorry to hear about the lack of good guppies, you could probably get some off of here?

I really really want a blue male mm platy, but I cant find any....anywere with even like a 2 hour drive from my place. I really want a blue male because I have this nice little female I call rasberry....she has a pinkyred almost lilac tail and the sheen on her body is purple..shes a mix of a few things I think, but anyways...redpink x blue make purple?? lol then babies would probebly come out colored like m&m's and none purple, but I can always hope.

yeah, it took me a second to figure that out too.
go get a photobucket at or online uploading address and upload the pictures then compu and paste the URL it gives you of the pictures.
