i have 6 Pseudotropheus socolofi in a 4ft tank by them selfs right now but one of them seems to be acting different then all the others, it looks like hes trying to swimming on the spot? he is feeding fine and swimms around to protect his caves. i have just seen it today, so i dont think he could have started it long ago..

water stats are all normal
the tank is overfilter
i didnt add any new fish or meds
i'v been doing normal water changes

can anyone tell me what is happening or what he is trying to do?

Does it look like he's shaking, like his whole body shimmys in one spot? If so, that's normal, it's usually one of two things, aggressive posturing, or a "breeding dance" to attract females.

I've alway though it looks like they're having a seizure when they do it, nearly gave me a heart attack the first time I saw it.

Hopefully you'll have fry soon, but like I said it could just be posturing too. Another thing mbuna do a lot is flicking themselves on rocks or sand, that's another posturing thing, and a lot of people new to mbuna mistake it for signs of ich. As long as your fish only flick occasionally, everythings fine, if all or most of them do it continually, start looking at them very closely for signs of disease. :good:
