At the moment, I am floating my molly in a 2 cup container in the tank. The tetras nibbled off her fins- however, she's doing much better and I've contemplated letting her out of the cup soon. She can *almost* swim without flopping. Lately though, I've noticed her tummy getting a bit rounder. Should I just leave her in the cup to see if she *is* pregnant? I'd like the fry to not get eaten this time..... She doesn't mind the cup, it seems. She's chilled out a lot, and knows she safe while she's healing. What do y'all think?

Sorry to hear about the molly and hopefully she will fully recover.Im quite surprised that the pristella are fin nipping as they are supposed to be quite peaceful and you have 5 of them which would usually inhibit any bad behaviour in tetra.Maybe they are finding the 10g too small?
I would be worried that they would start nipping again if the molly was returned to the main tank.
I would also be worried that the molly may be chilled at the minute but get stressed in the container when she is fully recovered.Ive no idea what a 2 cup container is but it does sound pretty small. From what Ive learned in the forum its not generally considered a good idea to keep mollys in any sort of breeding trap etc as they are too large a fish.
If it was me Id leave her be at present and move her back at the first signs of stress/agitation.Whatever you do is going to only be a short term fix if the fin nipping starts again as she may not survive the next time it happens :/

actually- 3 of tetras are buenos aires tetras. mix up at the pet store, and too late now to take them back. those *are* fin nippers. :/

i put her back in the main tank yesterday, and someone ate off her anal fin *le sigh* so i bought a 3-way breeder, took out the trap and divider, put in some plants, and she's having a cow, BUT is not being picked on. This is a little larger than the cup... but the molly is only about an inch long. She's not real big.
