Ok, so in my 29g, I have 2 female swordies and 1 male swordie. Over the past few weeks, one of the females has been getting much larger in the stomach area. Since it's been a long time since I've kept livebearers that had babies, what should I do? I'm going to try to save a good ammount of babies. Is there any preperation I should put the female in? Anything I should do afterwords? Should I stock up on foods in protein? Thanks.

hi,
not doing anything with her is the best thing,
putting her in a breeder net or moving her to another tank when shes about to drop can make her abort.
best thing is to have some live bushy floating plants, the fry tend to be in this when born, then you can scoop them into the breeder net that would be waiting inside your main tank, the fry can live in here a couple of weeks then you can put them in a fry tank. feed on crushed flake, brine shrimp ect. hth Donna :good:

leave her, if she has the babies you can get them with a net. Then at atleased you have strong fry that could escape attack and you wont have to cull.
