This happened a couple of nights ago and a couple of nights before that too and on an of for about a month. At night, around this time I am getting loads of white tiny tiny dots on my glass and out of these dots appear very thin worms like things, I have watched them and as they crawl across the glass they get fatter and a little longer. these are approx. 1cm at the biggest and they look a little like threadworm. this has happened since i had a snail infestation and also since my angels started to breed. It seems to happen more often when the angels are breeding or cleaning ready to breed.
What are these and what on earth should i do with them if anything.
The tank is about 1 and a half years old.
Sunday morning we had a sunshine molly dead and also monday morning too. It is very rare for us to have a fish die as it has only happened in the last 7 months (since moving house) that a couple leopard danios died from being so egg bound they just exploded. So it is unusual for us to have fish die. So this is why we are now questionning these worm things. They will be gone by morning or even into hiding wherever they go but we will not be able to see them again untill they reappear around this time of night again - it maybe tues night may not be for a couple nights. However the angels are preparing to breed by cleaning so anytime now they should be starting
thanks for any help

I dont know what they are, but ive seen another thread on here about them....I will try and find it for you.
Maybe Wilder or Germ will see this and post as im sure it was one of them who replied on treatment for getting rid of them...
In the mean time, I would make sure you keep up regular water changes and monitor water stats.

Planaria I think !!
Google seems to think Quick Cure will get rid.
but from what I have read, your over feeding / ammonia levels are too high. So for starters, how do you clean your tank ? Do you vac the gravel ? How much water do you change ?
Do a water change, if your unsure about doing that read this. http://www.fishforums.net/content/New-to-t...ly-Maintenance/

You then need to start cutting back on the food. Only feed them a small ammount, let them eat it, then again, once they stop eating, dont feed anymore. What food are you giving them ?

From what ive read its not dangerous to the fish, and alot will eat the planaria, like mollys. You can also treat with salt, but im not sure how much you need to add....

maybe someone else will post who has had dealings with this.,

You can attach panty hose/or similar with filter material to the out flow end of your gravel vac to filter them out. put both ends in the tank after getting the suction going. then you can vac the gravel for as long as you need to get most of them removed without having to remove the water. Just remember to change the filter material often. You should also sanitize the vac and other stuff used in the tank when you get finished.
I did this once, and it worked pretty well.
