Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): Fish is upside down on the bottom of the tank, no injuries or marks, colour is normal, apart from being upside down she looks completely normal and was eating and swimming fine yesterday

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 25% weekly

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: started dosing flourish excel 1 week ago

Tank inhabitants: 4 Bosemani rainbow, 4 platys, 3 female bettas, 3 rams, 2 kribs (pair), 6 ottos, 9 harlequins, 9 cardinals, 1 syno catfish, 2 clown loach

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): none

Exposure to chemicals: only the flourish

I have had my angel fish for 3 years and have never had any problems with her (not 100% sure its a her). I only started dosing with the Flourish 1 week ago because I have some black brush algae and read somewhere that flourish will get rid of it. I didn't overdose as sometimes advised but only used recommended dose on the packaging.

Has anyone ever heard of flourish causing problems to fish? All my other fish are ok and don't seem to be affected. Maybe her time was up but I thought Angel fish could live up to 10 years or more.

Any help would be appreciated and I'm going to do a large water change now.

Thanks
Di

Sadly once fish lay on there backs they rarely make it.

Does she look bloated.
Can she maintain balance.
What does it look like when she goes to the toilet.
How often do you preform a gravel vac.

If it was the flourish I would expect to see more other fish showing symtoms.

Your tanks overstocked.

As Wilder has said, tank is overstocked.

As far the Excel goes, I dose and overdose regularly with Excel. My Angels or any of the other fish don't have a problem with it.

Hi Guys, thanks for your replies, unfortunately she didn't make it. She wasn't bloated and pooing was normal, I gravel vac every water change, once a week, I know the tank is overstocked as I've made some bad fish choices in the past but I've got 2 filters running, 1 external and 1 internal and I've never had any problems with water stats.

I want to rehome the syno and clowns, I've tried advertising and lfs but no luck.

Poor thing.
R.I.P.

It would be best to reduce your stocking.
Good Luck.

Cheers, I was gutted to find her dead as she was one of my oldest fish. If I can rehome the loaches and catfish then I should be ok for my stocking. I wont be replacing the Angel.

Bless her. It's sad when you lose an old fish and you are very fond of them.
Good Luck.
