Hey guys, as the title says, I think she's holding.

Her mouth is huge, its slightly open and I think I can see black spots inside.
Her "throat" is really expanded too.

She's hasn't eaten much at all, she only tries to suck up little sprinkles of flake, and so has lost weight over
about 2 weeks (ish).

The only problem is......She's the only orange albino zebra in the tank
tbh i'm not even sure its a female, and it could just be a male with lockjaw

Any help guys?

Thanks in advance,

Maximus

Sounds like you're gonna have some hybrids. :D

Sounds too much like a holding female to be anything else - post some pics to be 100%. :good:

Cool,I hope she is holding :)

Long story short I went in the sea with my phone (for about half an hour lol) so I have got
a new phone and I'm not too sure how to upload pictures onto my laptop yet :S

This is an old picture of "her" lol:

*waits half an hour for photobucket*

Right it isn't working at the moment lol. So I'll try again later

Cheers Ferris

Hey people :)

She's definately holding, I can see a mouth full :D

I'm not planning of seperating her, just let "nature" run it's corse.
It's her first spawn, so how many fry should I expect?

Oh, and here's an old pic of her:

Thanks alot :)

Yep she is holding I wouldnt expect any to make it mate they will get gobbled.

Yeah, thats why I'm keeping her in there :)

Bigger news!, I have just found out that my second "male" elongatus mpanga, who I was trying to catch to rehome but
couldn't because it was always hidden, (after two weeks I gave up it as dead from beaten) has just popped up from behind some rocks...
...with a MASSIVE mouth full of fry :hyper:

I might try and seperate this one :fun:

Yeah, they like to surprise you like that, just when you're SURE you know the sex, they up and spit fry. :shout: That's part of what makes the hobby so much fun.

Right, just a quick update:

I think my e. mpanga has spit, but I'm not too sure.
If she has, they've all been gobbled lol

But the orange albino zeb is still holding, no clue how long it's been now ????

I'll update again sometime :good:

EDIT: for crap spelling

Don't be so sure - i found 2 tiny babies hiding in the rocks weeks after i'd given up on them. :D

Just a quick update:

Both females have now spat, but I can only spot 2 E. Mpanga fry, one of which is very clever, and has a really
good hiding hole lol

I'm yet to see any of the hybrids, but hopefully their in there somewhere!

I'm going to leave them in there, but I'm not expecting anything.

Oh, and a quick question:

Now that the E. Mpanga have spawned, how often will they do it?

Cheers :good:

As often as they can. Since my m.callainos and l.caeruleus decided it was time to breed, I've had at least one holding female a month. Once the male in a full breeding mode, he'll pester all the females to breed. In past experience, most of my females will breed every other month or so. So one month a female will hold, then next month she won't, and so on.

Cheers for that.

I think I'll need to get another female for him then -_-

The two babys are still going strong, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed lol

Thanks again :)
