I Think Jewel Has Finrot

I reslly don't seem to get much luck with fish from the lfs. Poor Jewel this evening looks like he has tears starting in his fins, and the one black edge ( which i know has been finrot in the past) has started to break off

Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
the filter isnt cycled, but i check water resdings twice a day
tank is a 28L tank. pH is 7.2
eating and swimming well, his normal self...but what do i do to make sure he heals instead of getting worse?

what do i do to help him?

doing 25 percent or 50 percent water changes every day or every other day should do it just clean water is the best solution and if you cant do this you can treat it just dont use melafix or pimafix because they mess up the labyrinth organ in the long run hope i helped and hope he gets better

have been giving him 25-50% changes daily since i had him anyways, so hopefully he'll be ok. I know finnage does best with clean water.so as its not a cycled filter, this is why i do WC even though the water levels are 0

the water changes should help a whole lot mine started to get better after day 3 of daily water changes

If you're doing w/cs anyway, I'd say that it's apparently not prevented it, so you should probably start with meds. Myxazin is really good, and can be found at your LFS or online

i have had Jewel about 3 days. But he still is "happy", comes to say hello, eating etc. In fact I think he looks better than he did the day I got him, as his fins were being held close to his body, not tightly clamped but not right

now he is willing to spread them out, so I am hoping he will be on the mend. He is in a 28L tank, with a filter although uncycled, water levels are 0, and water changes everyday in case ammonia levels rise before being detectable. he readily eating fine,. 3 mini pellets a day, starvation day tomorrow.
We shall see how he is tomorrow, if fins dont look better, or if they look worse I shall ambi tank him. shpould I use a little aquarium salt, and how much to a litre?

if you get it it should say on the bow but i use docs wellfish aquarium salt and it is 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons when treating sickness

Well a sad evening. I lost Jewel this evening after treating with first salt, then melafix. he looked very much like Ice before he died. what could I have done differently?
