i ahve set up my 10g with soem amazon swords and a type of hort wort.

i bought some root tabs and put about 6 of them close to the plants, and there doing great.

But i need a final touch to my tank. something that will cover the rock caves and the sand bottom. but i dont want java moss since ive read most places that its a slow grower.

what kind of grass like plant can i get for my sand subtrate which is 2 inches and have ferts int he sand.

i have 1.5wpg

tell me if you need any mroe info.

have i done something wrong?

ive posted like 5 different topis in the planted section and am getting lucky if some answers 1?

does the plant forum not like me? what did i do????

Well i cant think of anything off hand that would be suitable with 1.5 WPG its kinda low for most ground covering plants, have a look at this site i have linked, and look at the options under, low or medium low light (because thats what you have with 1.5 WPG) and see if you can find anything suitable.

Also make sure the tubes you are useing are suitable for growing plants, anything from 3000k to 10000k would be suitable, around 6500k would be ideal and are also nice light for viewing.

if its a 10 gallon setup, then you must have a incandescent hood, or you should get one, becuase you can purchase household bulbs (florescent) at even wallmart, like i did, i have spent hours on the computer researching about this, and i also have a 10 gallon planted with some decoration, but hte only thing different is i have gravel, not sand,

if you have a incandescent hood go to walmart pick up some house hold "daylight" compact bulbs get the 20 watts and they are rated 6500K

so that is perfect and you will have around 4 WPG maybe a little less becuase yet again they arent aquarium lights... or you can buy some florescent compacts at walmart too they are like 4$ 10 watt bulbs....

i have microsword i am working with for my ground covering, it grows fast, but its hard to take care of, and they aquire lots of light and nutrients, they also grow algea on em' like crazy.... try finding a grass substance..... check out ebay.... or www.plantgeek.net

hope this helps and good luck

the light i bought is a 18" 15 watt penn-plex aquari-lux fluorescent light.

and also algue isnt a problem sicne i got my self a trio of oto's who would be more then delited to munch on some that tasty tasty algue.

but for the light thats all ti says on the box, except this spectral graph but i dont know what that is......hmmm.
