So The main Inhabitants of the tank are

1 Coral Beauty
1 Sand Sifting Goby
1 Yellow Watchman Goby
1 Royal Gramma
1 Red Scooter Blenny
1 Cleaner Shrimp
1 Coral Banded Shrimp
1 Green Serpant Brittle (Didnt research before the buy, took my first yellow watchman)

I also have a small burgundy star that was a hitchhiker on my first polyps

A large feather duster, 10 polyp colonies...and thats pretty much it...

I have a 50 gallon tank, with 75-90 lbs of live rock. (Dont remember exact, but closer to 90)
I also have a...um...pretty sure its an ASM G-1X Protein Skimmer...gotta ask my dad...

I also have the returning water drop through a Chemi-Pure layer.

So am I overstocked or do I have sufficient filtration?

You have alot of LR in the tank which is normally a good thing, i wonder if too much LR in a tank can be a bad thing though as it leaves alot less swimming room for the livestock.

However your not really overstocked for a 50 as all those fish stay pretty small.

I'd be more worried about the CBS TBH, ever since i saw one grab hold of a fish and munch on it down the LFS i've been put off them for good. Not too sure about the serpent but if it ate one of your fish i would get rid of it but it's your tank :good:

SF gave you good info. Doesnt appear to be over stocked to me. Like he said, those fish remain quite small. There is a Profile on the CBS, coral banded shrimp. http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=128726

I have one question thuogh, and im not trying to be rude, if your Serpent brittle star ate your first watchman goby, why did you buy another?

I forgot to say that I moved the Brittle Star to the sump, he hangs around my protein skimmer. He must eat the tanish things growing in there, cause hes been there for more than 3 months. I feed him occasional dead hermit crabs and stuff. I also forgot to mention the Emerald Mithrax Crab. And cant I get loads of polyps, or should I have less fish to do that. All the tank pictures have a few fish and like no live rock showing. I dream of the day my tank looks like that. :hey:

EDIT: Wow, I also forgot to mention the pistol shrimp :X

Seems fine as far as stocking to me. I wouldn't worry too much on your inverts they don't contribute enough waste to count them in. As far as too much live rock, as long as your fish seem happy swimming around the more the merrier. Most of the fish are used to swimming in and out and around the live rock and coral on the reef so they are ine doing so in our tanks. Also don't worry if the polyps start spreading you will have loads in there. The only difference the fish would make is the nitrates they add, but by doing water changes and other means to keep them in check the polyps won't have a problem spreading IME

Looks fine. In fact, that's a very good amount of live rock and should help with the filtration. SH

I have around 80kgs (175lbs) in my 36g (+ 20g sump) and there's not a heck of a lot of swimming room
As long as you buy reef fish and not open water swimmers they will love playing in and out the rockwork and the extra live rock means you can push the boundaries a little bit ;)
