I start with 9 and end with 70

Man .... i have more guppies then i know what to do with them.. I just dont want to kull them and the local shop wont take them. Booooo.

Now i think i will have to get two more smaller tanks. i for girlls and 1 for boys until i can get rid of them... and i will wait until i see the best looking ones then get rid of them. I think i will put post in the papers. but the problem is , is that i have a ration of 5 females to 1 male..


what i might do is to get some more small tanks and put 2 females per colour to 1 type male then get loads of different colours.

I know it does not help you any,but, I would love to take some. I am sure you will find a very good home for them. I also have five females to one male but i am not getting any where with mine I keep watchomg my tank but nothing ever shows up. I have four fry in a two gallon hex and they are fun to watch. I just figure my turn will be soon. I hope. By the way how is that huuuuuge tank you are working on comming along?

If you have the money, why not just strike a deal with any lfs to supply them their platies? It seems to me as though you've already got quite a few of them...

Y a the tank is going ok. I have all the measurments and now going out next week to get the metal. then in a week i will weld all the bits together.

I had loads of problems getting fry at first but once i added loads of plnats and large rocks they just came. I read some where that the can postpone birth if their isnt enough cover. the Large stones are really cool as the gaps are large enough for the fry to hide and feed but not big enough for the larger fish to get them.

I though i would get a rotting problem when the fish couldnt get to the rocks but the Siamese Algae eater fits inbeteen them all and stirs up the bottom which forces the crap into the filter.

I think im going to have a few problems with the larger fish tank with over crowding as there is going to be loads of hiding places.

Hey dont worry im with ya in the conlifct. I got around 80 guppy fry( with 2 females expecting litters in a week), 23 month and a half olds in a 10 gallon and 3 other bowls filled with new borns. Luckily my lfs store said they'd take them, but only for free . Ah well
PS: it seems like most of mine are females too wish i could changes it , but i hear its in your ph that determines it and i would never mess with ph.

Say to the LFS that you will trade for Treatment stuff and food. also look around the shop and see things that havent sold in a long time like.... small old style tanks and lamps, ummmmm..... well you know what i mean..... if you were to get another tank you could slowly gather the fish together and swap for e.g heater , filter tank, then swap 10 guppies for 2 tetras and stuff like that.

the lfs then wouldnt pay cash for it so he wouldnt see it on the books.

I guess your situation is a bit bittersweet. I have 3 female platty and 1 male and I cant get then to mate! On the other hand it seems like you have more than enough! Good luck and I like Fuzzy Wuzzy's idea of stock pilng supplies.
