About 5 weeks ago, I added 4 kuhlis into a tank. They disappeared. I continued to feed algae wafers after dark, but as there were cories in the tank as well, I wasn't sure who were the mid-night munchers polishing 'em off. Today though, I saw my loaches for the first time in weeks!! The tank light was off, but my room light was on, it was about 7:00 PM. Despite this, the loaches were all about the tank, digging with my cories out in the open! I was quite surprised and pleased. :D

I added a wafer, and all the little bottom feeders were all over it.

my khuli's don't stay at the bottom of my tank, they swim around some of the time. Is that normal? :/
I only see one of mine right now (I have 2) and he's chillin' in the plants  but I have no idea where the other one is -_-

gotta love them khuli's

anything is "normal" for a khuli
they could just be going for a joy ride/swim
some are noctornal, and some aren't
but if they are constantly spazzing then something may be wrong
they could either be telling you that something is spooking them (be it other fish, an exceptionally noisy filter/airpump or a little face on the other side of the glass (if you have children or animals  )
when they finally do rest their little gills will be pumping at super speed

another thing to keep in mind is khuli loaches can be exceptionally delicate at times and require very good quality of water
in a poor quality tank (which is not always from neglect, even a knowledgable and responsible fish keeper can make a simple mistake resulting in high nitrates, etc) your fish will be pale (even in the light) and have frequent spasms, and in worst cases it will just "quite" or rather die for what seams like no reason

not to scare you
keep a clean and peaceful tank and you'll be just fine
