After a major water change last night i forgot to turn the filter back on, its was off for 10 hours or 11 hours! what are the chances that i've lost my bacteria?!
This is a moderately planted 90 liter tank with 18 tiger barbs and a youngish pleco in it, i tested it right now and found no trace of amonia, any advice?

test it in 24 hours, any signs on ammonia over 0.25ppm then do a water change.

In all honesty you should be ok, the bacteria should be alright for that length of time. Of course there is a small chance of a mini cycle while it rebuilds.

Got any pics of the tank? Be interesting to see what it looks like, as i've just started a 90L with 12 tiger barbs in it :)

Fast the tank for 24 hours, feed lightly for the next week, should be fine.

You should be fine - dont worry! I have an external filter and once forgot to turn mine back on for 24 hours after a water change and didnt even get a blip in my water stats!

sounds great, thank you all, i'll keep an eye on both amonia and nitrites, and perform as many water changes as needed if needed!

And Tizer, i will post a photo soon, I have 12 regular tigers which i've had for 2 months now and a recent addition of 6 albino tiger barbs, I love the little buggers!

The greatest danger from a filter not running are the potential for a temperature change that is too great. If the filter is on but the impellor is stuck, heat can build up in the filter water. On the other hand if the motor stops (or is turned off) then the potential danger is the water might get too cold esp if the ambient temp is very cool (most likely if its a power outage in cold weather which turns the heat off in the entire building for long enough).

However, under most circumstances, the bacteria should survive just fine.
