I am definitely a 75 gal in the future, in a month or so probably... and there is time to cycle it and all. Okay, well, I have a 2 1/2 in. Gold Severum and I think he was getting ready to mate, even though he is the only Severum in the tank. He was moving gravel around in the back right corner of the tank, and when any of my Cories, or any other fish, came into the area of this, he scared them away. I looked up this behavior and it means establishing territory and he is ready to mate. Will this be a problem as one - there is no female to mate with and 2 - the tank is small and he claimed pretty much a good 1/4 of it to himself?

I just recently had this happen to me with my Green Sev. I thought it was a male and posted pics and everyone agreed it was a male. It acted like what you described for a couple weeks. I came home one day and it had beat up my other Sev and bruised my Gourami. Luckily they healed up fine. I closely inspected the tank and it had laid eggs ! Female after all. She ended up eating the eggs but became really aggressive so keep an eye out !

He is just claiming his part of the tank, its not a problem for him, might be for the other fish, so upgrade asap, of course he cant 'mate' without a partner. If he is a 'she' then she could lay eggs, but obviousy nothing will come of it.
