I'm wanting some new music to listen to. I have been getting into some of the British bands lately, and I thought this would be a good place to ask about more since the vast majority of members are, well british.

I'm liking the Kooks, Keane, Coldplay, Oasis and any others that are in that vein. What suggestions can you make for me to check out?

I also picked up the Hard-Fi album Stars of CCTV. That has been good too.

Gf says based on your choices so far;
Radiohead, Snow Patrol, The Verve, Richard Ashcroft; Keane/Coldplay
Artic Monkeys, Kasabian, Blur, The Stone Roses, Pulp; Oasis
The Thrills, Kaiser Chiefs, The Fratellis, RazorLight; The Kooks
The Good The Bad and The Queen, Graham Coxon, Maximo Park, Muse are apparently all 'good'....

-germ- says
Aside from Blur, Kasabian, Pulp, The Verve and The Stone Roses i'd say they are all greasy unwashed melody monkeys with very little talent.....
Try some Portishead (trip-hop group who's lead singer can't help but send shivers down your spine) or if you can find it (highly unlikely) Sol De Coda (similar), if you have to go down such a route (instruments  ) try Son Of Dave (beatboxing, harmonica playing, gravelly voice having one man band) or SeaSick Steve (ex-hobo busker type smelly bloke) who has excellently gritty and grungy music......
Or the prodigy, which may be a leap to far but IMHO a leap very worth taking, try the album Music For The Jilted Generation if you wan't to check out the prodigy....
Limewiring?

Ooh, that's a lot of stuff to look into. I've got the Kaiser Chiefs and a few others she mentioned. Tell her thank you very much, and thank you for doing the legwork too.

I to would recommend Portishead - her voice is amazing.

Also Try The Enemy a local Coventry band who are on everything ATM

for something else, try the streets, dizzee rascal

Supergrass, Block Party, Lostprophets.
Some U2 stuff can be ok (seen them in Barcalona) at times...

Just some of the goodens from late:

-Hadouken!
-Enter Shikari
-Gallows

Or for something a little easyier try:

-Incubus - Legends
-Jamie T - Complete stoner
-The Maccabees - Very good

Give some of them a try, and tell us how it goes :good:

Look for the Zutons for a weird wee mix and Snowpatrol rock!!! You also have the Stereophonics to find as well!! Just Jack is relatively new but is a bit different from the bands you mentioned!! He rocked at T in the Park though

Have fun
