Recently, i've been feeling the need for some shrimp. A long time ago i tried ordering shrimp through my lfs and they never came through. I did have ghost shrimp til they disappeared and i havent seen them since. So i have my eyes on two species. Japanese algae eating shrimp and cherry shrimp. After looking at the prices im not too willing to spend 4$ per shrimp if theyre going to die quickly in my tanks. So i have a few questions:

Does anyone have any suggestions on a different shrimp i should go with?
Should i buy a seperate 5 gallon or less tank for the shrimp or can i keep them in my other tanks without them being eaten?
Do they reproduce fast?
Are they hard to take care of?

The main reasons i want the shrimp are to clean the algae in my tanks (Especially the 1.5G with a betta) without having a 4in pleco or another fish creating alot of waste, to eat leftovers that my fish decide not to eat, and to clean my plants. I have a 2.5 gallon tank with no water in it and its just sitting next to my bed. I dont have a filter for it or heater so should i buy a bigger tank or would they be fine? I feel as i would need to buy a new tank and i can't buy anything too big. Basically something that is 5 Gallons or less. If these shrimp do reproduce i want to have up to like 50 if possible.

The tanks i have that i could put the shrimp in are:

29G:
1 Gold Gourami, 1 Rainbow Shark, 5 Glowlight Tetra, 3 Julii Corydoras, 1 Bolivian Ram, and 1 Von Rio Flame Tetra

15G:
1 Redtail Shark (Trying to rehome soon), 1 SAE (was sold to me as otocinclus. idk what im going to do with him), 1 Swordtail, 2 Peppered Corydoras, 1 Panda Corydoras

10G:
1 Female Veiltail Betta, 4 Guppies, 2 Peppered Corydoras, 2 Albino Corydoras, 1 Tiger Barb (Soon to be rehomed in a friends tank)

2.5G:
No fish in tank. Doesnt have a heater or filter.

1.5G:
1 Male Veiltail Betta

Looks like the only tank suitable for shrimp would be the unused 2.5g, but the shrimp need a mature filter and heater. And the 1.5g that you have the betta in is, IMO, too small for a betta. Your other tanks all have fish that think shrimp are tasty treats.

Where are you located?

Once the tiger barb has left the 10g, you could try the Amano (Japanese) in there. The betta should leave them alone.

I'd get a 5 gallon tank with heater and filter - probably cheaper than buying a heater and filter for your 2.5 gallon tank

The 1.5G was supposed to be a centerpiece vase but when i saw the vase's i decided to get a tank. The best looking tank that was under 5gallons was this one. The other tanks were those dumb desktop ones that have red plastic trim.

Im located in the Southwest part of CT, USA

Yeah i was thinking about doing that but i want their own tank so if that goes wrong i still have the other shrimp.

I dont even know why i got the 2.5 gallon. Its odd shaped too so the filter would be cramed in there. I need something small though since my room has two tanks in it already (had to move one cause i had no space). Whenever i get money its like an addiction where i gotta buy something for my fish haha. Maybe i could order a column tank or something?
