After hunting for driftwood online and finding nothing that really stood out or was too expensive I decided to go to the river. My kids and I drove there and walked down to the fishing drop to hunt. The bank is really nonexistant just large rocks in most places. So here I am jumping from rock to rock like a demented goat. Found quite a few places where the wood jammed up. It took all afternoon but we wound up with quite a few pieces of wood. These are now outside drying off to make them easier to clean.
Both my hubby and eldest looked at me strangely when I got home with my goodies. I told the both of them to check the prices on ebay and aquabid before teasing me. My two younger ones were exhausted but helped me set them out.
My older son checked the sites and is eyeing my wood with that gleam in his eyes. He wants the pieces I don't use. I wonder why? :hey:
Meanwhile I'm sitting here so sore I don't want to move. I'm definately getting too old for all that jumping on rocks bit but it was worth a few sore muscles.
The kids want to go again (groan)

we would have loved doing something like that & wood as well :good:
great day out good exercise & fishy treat all in 1 go.
we spent our day getting lost in manchester trying to find a fish shop lol

sounds like a intresting saturday and anything is better than staying in watching TV

Well at least you find some nice drift wood :fun:

I have a stream right near me, so it's safe to get my own driftwood right out of it? How should I sterilize it? I don't think I have a pot big enough to boil one.

I have a piece like that. I'm going to use one of those heavy duty plastic storage things. I'm going to put the wood in that and pour boiling or nearly boiling water over it during the day. I hope it will work. Ideas anyone?
