How long has the tank been set up. is she the only fish in the tank, how many gallons is the tank, can you post water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

You need to post this in the marine section, mods names in blue at the bottom of the forum, they will help you more, good luck.

Asked a mod to move it for you, good luck.

u stated the prob your self. you have a readable nitrite level. never ever add fish to any tank as long as there are readable signs of ammonia and nitrite. right now your best bet is to do small water changes daily and hope for the best.

i dont know what else it could be. maybe one of the more experienced members can help. for now your best bet is to keep your water quality as good as possible.

well thanks, that was pretty weird because his color returned and hes back to normal, i hope i dont wake up to it again, he looked normal and when he turned his eyes were yellow and he looked dead it was pretty scary, but the only other thing is since hes been hiding out in a little cave inside my live rock he always misses feeding time and even when hes out, my 2 undergravel filters and bio filter blow the peices all over but he never sees the food so i was wondering what type of vegetable i could put for him to nibble on just in case he isnt getting any food, so he doesnt starve, any lettuce maybe im not sure. i had 2 white tailed damsel and one domino damsel wich was veeerrry healthy but one hour after he ate he just layed on his side with his entire body white and i freshwater dipped wich helped for 10 minuted or so but he died then the other got fin rot too fast too control and had it o bad he just twitched in the coner trying to move and so i reated him until he felt better some swimming came back but he died from stress maybe, i was too scared to euthanize him.

How big is the tank? How many pounds of live rock? Did you say you were using chemical cyclers?

Fish in the morning tend to act dead becuase they are resting don't get that confused with being sick. My damsels use to scare the crap out of me becuase they would stick to the filter mesh in my 72 gallon when I had a canister filter. My suggestion if the damsel lives wait atleast 2 weeks before adding fish to let a cycle occur if it does. If it doesn't you probably good to slowly add fish but watch out for a mini cycle not sure how good chemical cyclers are.

As far as your filter situation goes, I would make sure you have atleast 1 pound of live rock for every gallon of the aquarium and ditch the bio-wheel filter and the undergravel filter and get a cleanup crew (hermits, snails, crabs, stars, sandsifters). And maybe invest in a protein skimmer but thats your choice.

its a 30 gallon tank, with 5 pounds of live rock, couldnt afford anymore cuz i blew alot of meoney so now that its cycling im waiting 6-8 weeks and when i buy more fish i will get more live rock to add, im getting a certain type of urchin that cleans some crabs snails like u said, its just odd he changes color but thatnks for the advice i think i might not use the cyclers because it could cause problems later on , maybe...

Is it just the 1 damsel? I would stick with just that until you can get about 25 more pounds of live rock and then wait and make sure the tank doesn't cycle. Once that happens you should be set but don't over stock. A 30 gallon tank is very hard to care for, mistakes happen quick in a 30 gallon. The more fish the faster the parameters could change Ammonia, Nitrites, and Nitrates. Other than that and good luck!

There is no way that you can maintain a 30G marine nano tank with 5 lbs of live rock. If you think of your live rock as a HOB powerfilter or Eheim canister filter for a FW tank, then you are running your tank without a filter. A 30 G tank needs 30-45lbs of LR. Anything you put in your tank may die with filtration. SH

ya i have about 25 pounds of live rock right now, 1 came with an anenome inside i didnt even see it,
