Hello everyone. I joined this forum yesterday and I can't post in any other topics. I know that I have to validate my account but it has been over a day and I never got a validation e-mail. I made sure that all my info and my address was correct I even tried to resend my validation and I contacted e-mailed for help. I have a very sick fish and I need help soon. I posted in Beginers Questions about my fish and no one has looked at it I think. Can anyone help me please?
My common pleco is now in a 10 gallon hospital tank. He has a pink blister like growth on his left fin. I took pictures to my LFS and they said that is could be body fungus. I have been treating him with Maracyn and Maracyn Two for six days now and the fungus isn't getting smaller. The pH, nitrate and nitrite levels are normal. I have air, heater, and a filter going, but there is no carbon in the filter. The LFS told me not to even put a filter in there and after two days I couldn't see through the tank and the levels were high. So now there is just a carbonless filter. Also there looks like the medicine is producing a film (almost silt like) over the bottom of the tank were my pleco is. This is the first time this has ever happened. We was in a larger tank with gouramis and pictus catfish. He mostly stayed in his cave so I didn't notice it until it was the size of a grain of rice. now it is almost the size of an eraser. He is about five inches long. I have had him for about four months and I do weekly water changes (from 20%- 50%) and I do a complete water change every two to three weeks. Here is a picture of him. Sorry it isn't clear but it is one of the better pictures. This was taken almost a week ago.
