I tried cotton wool iv hear that people have used glue?
can I use silicon?

If you use silicone it will have to be dry, then dry for 24 hours, so no.

I just use thread.

How have you had the Java Fern? ... I purchased some from Ebay and it came as stems  so there was no rhizome to tie it to the wood :S In the end I put staples in the wood and slotted the stems down into it :D they're doing great now with roots appearing

If it does have the rhizome just tie it to the wood along that with cotton or fishing line, or yes rubber bands work too :good:

If it's just the leaves you have, just leave the weight on and leave it some whwere in the tank. Plantlets will grow from the leaves, and you should use them to tie down onto things.
