I Need An Alge Eater Or 2.

Well I was jsut wondering if there was an algea eating fish out there that would eat alge off plant leafs themselves as well as off glass. this algea eater must be friendly towards cories and not eat their food. :/

honestly? you don't need an algae eater. you need less lighting and more frequent water changes. it also sounds like you are fast on your way to an over-stocked tank. unless you have 75-100g of space, there is no way you will be able to successfully keep 4 pairs of cichlids, 20+ tetras and a dozen cories.

for a longer explanation of why you don't need an algae eater, please reference the pinned topic "What kind of algae eater should I get?"

well a 72 gallon bow front is close to 75 gallon haha. I am gonna change to 1 angel pair 2 blue ram pairs (maybe jsut two males) and 25 tetras.

I also plan to move my pepper cories to my 29 gallon.

I have a relatively new set-up of a Vision 180. As per most new set-ups, I have a brown algae problem. All the plant leaves in my tank look like they need a very good dusting - the plants are covered in the bitty stuff.

Last week I added three ottos. All the plants are now completely clean !

On adding the three ottos they immediately went into hiding. However, ten minutes later they were all out hoovering up the brown algae off all the leaves like well-programmed little robots. They are small enough not to cause any damage, and they don't bite at the leaves. The tank looks a hundred times better and the ottos seem very content too. They did exactly what I wanted them to, so this may help the OP.

I also upgraded my lighting aswell.

Yes, I may still get an otto.. but does anyone have a good picture of one? at the pet store all they have is a "giant" otto .

I got 3 Otto's for my 15 gallon tank to help with a Brown Algae problem and they made quick work of the algae and are very awesome fish to have and they love the plants I just put in the tank. I would highly recommend them as they stay pretty small especially compared to most pleco's. They pretty much keep to themselves too. They are pretty patient from what I can see. If I put some algae wafers in my tank they'll wait for the cory's to get their fill and eat up the rest.
