Hi all

I am after a really strong powerhead for my 100gl reef set-up, i have two korolia 1's but i want something way stronger than that, any suggestions please

Thanks
VM

I think what you need is a Tunze pump, I have two that I used on a hillstream biotope. :)

How about the Tunze 6305? Up to 7,925 US GPH (over 30,000 LPH). Is that powerful enough for you?

In more realistic terms you will be looking at the larger Hydors (so the 4-6), the larger Tunze NanoStreams (6045 or 6055), the full size Tunze Streams or potentially even a Tunze Wavebox if you want really natural wave motion.

What kind of budget do you have? Personally for a tank that size I would say get a wavebox. Cheaper then getting 4 or 5 big power heads and a lot more effective (plus less clutter in the tank).

I got seio's cheap and quite and powerfull!!

seio m820
3200lph
24.95

preety good if you ask me :good:

Purely as a matter of interest (I don't intend putting a wavebox in my 58ltr nano  ) are waveboxes marked with the amount of water they shift in a similar way to powerheads Barney? If not, how is this determined?

Not as far as I have seen. The ones I looked at basically are for tanks from about 50g to 100g (then you have an extension box for bigger tanks). You can adjust the height of the waves from the box to suit the tank.

Not to sure they can measure flow rates because it basically moves all the water in your tank which each wave.

Just curious, why did no one suggest the Hydor Koralia 4? It is big and produces diffuse flow seems like a candidate to me.

Regards

Hydor do a larger range now (Magnums) I would like to see a Tunze Wavebox in there though, it would make an awesome effect not to mention more natural effect as your corals sway back and forth. Go for the WAVEBOX

Wave machine would be great if i could get one for around £100, but i think a good one is much more. Thanks for the clip Ben that's the first one i have seen working, but i have to be honest, i thats the effect of wave machine's i am not sure i like it, or do brought one's have a different effect?

Thanks

you can tune them to make waves as big or as small as you like. I personally dont like them id be worried about a wet carpet. Maybe a small one would be good to suppliment powerheads tho.
