I have 3 pictus catfish and 2 raphael catfish in my tank.  I just switched over to a new tank and found out that once they got bigger they started getting tangled and stuck in my net.  I was able to get them all moved and safe into my new tank but I do need a new net and one that their fins wont get stuck in.   Any ideas?

It's best for catfish and loaches (nearly all of which have some sort of spike or barbs on them somewhere!) to tub them; that means using a container (old ice cream or margarine tubs are brilliant for this, as are old filter housings, depending on the size of the fish) to scoop them up. It also makes it easier to catch the fish, as they usually see it as a 'cave' and are (usually!) quite happy to go in. Pipes are also useful, if you have any; you can persuade the fish in and then block the ends, either with your net or your hands.

I've never found a net that won't get catfish stuck in it.

I know that I've had a similar issue when netting my Corydoras agassizii, replacing regular nylon mesh with stocking type nets, same outcome fins stuck in net

the only difference is the stocking type nets I found easier and faster to remove them.

Ok thanks I did end up using a plastic jug to tub them last time.  I know you can get fishing nets that are made of rubber.  I would think there must be a company that makes similar ones for aquariums.  I will let you know if I find them.
