I Love My Lfs!

Yeah, yeah. We all have good reason to bash our LFS's. Mine wouldn't give me media to cycle because it "would start the cycle all over, and kill my fish" However, I went in again today looking for some specific fish and to fins out if they can help me find some rarer fish in the future. They are so friendly, answered all of my questions, and are going to help me get all the fish I want, which guarantees that they will be alive when I bring them home, no need to open an airmail box to a dead fish! The fish there all looks healthy and taken care of. Ohhhh my favorite about this store, the keep all of their bettas in their main tanks all over the store!!!! Males and all. They are the prettiest and healthiest looking bettas I've seen. I have my eye on a few now.

I will also be able to swap out fish as I need to achieve breeding pairs...etc....Something I am really interested in for almost every fish I plan to get...

Hip Hip Hooray for my LFS!! Now if they would just learn about new methods of cycling a tank instead on relying on their old methods....but you win, some and lose some, and I can hold their advice at arms length and verify with research!

Your Lfs sounds like mine.
All the tanks are individually filtered & set up like you'd have them at home.
Mine also has their Bettas in community tanks & not in tiny compartments

My LFS is petco. They've got knowledgeable staff but not the best living conditions.

I do like them though.

My LFS is pretty good, rare fish and oddballs, good SW section. Only thing that bugs me is they keep tatooed and dyed fish, as well as bettas in a cup, but female bettas in community tanks. All tanks are individually filtered. Also, they seem to have really bad ich and fin rot issues in some of their tanks. But the staff is super knowledgeable and friendly, one is a marine biologist, and when my Peacock goby male died after two days, the guy gave me store credit and his phone number and said he'd put in a special order for peacock gobies

The thing I like about my lfs, they seem to have staff that is knowledgeable about everything.
They are the only lfs I can mention adding ammonia to my tank and won't freak out.

Haha Too bad this store is actually my Weekend Fish store {WFS} lol It's not as close as we'd like and can't get out there during the week
