I Love My Betta!

I've read somewhere that a male Betta can be kept with other type of fish... such as a platy... is this true?

If not, can they be kept with another fish at all?

To be honest, they are best kept on their own as they are a solitary fish by nature and are happy enough without tankmates.
Some people have had success with keeping one in a commmunity but you always have to be wary as they could turn at any time.
What size tank have you got?

I have a 10 gallon tank for my tropical fish and just a bowl (maybe 1 gal) for my betta. I was just wondering if i can just put any of them together... my betta seems lonely... or is he?

From what I'v read betta's are happier alone so you should maybe leave it on its own. And if you did mix then you would have to make sure that none of your other fish are fin nippers. Your betta is probably not lonley its maybe just you feeling bad seeing it all alone. But then again its all up to you...

Bettas have personalities, and some are naughty and hyper, like mine and others are easygoing and intellectual. I would get a 2.5 or a 5 gal with a filter or bubbler if you can. (Btw, some bettas are sensitive to filter currents. Try it first on low.) He will be MUCH MUCH happier. Bettas are best kept solitary, and its a common misconception that they cant go into bigger tanks, and that they get very lonely. This is not true. I hope I answered some questions!
