I know why their water smells like garlic!

A while back, I posted and asked if anyone knew why my bettas' water smelled like garlic. A lot of people said that their water smelled like garlic, too, but didn't know why. Well, today I think I found out.

After watching me feed my bettas, my boyfriend asked me what was in their food. I said "I don't know," and I flipped the packet over and started reading the ingredients out loud ..."fish meal, wheat flour.......enzyme, garlic....GARLIC?!? That's why!" And then he looked at me like I was nuts.

So...there's garlic (for whatever reason) in Hikari Betta Bio Gold and that's why their water smells like garlic. Mystery solved.

Mystery solved!! I've never noticed their water smelling like garlic, but I guess it makes sense now.

Garlic is often taken as a dietary supplement and supposedly has many health benefits

Garlic....So that's why all my tanks were all smelling funky! I kept scrubbing them out and boiling the rocks and soaking the plants in hot water, thinking they were sick or something. Thanks for figuring it out for us, takes alot of stress away from me at least.
