I went to the LFS today for some aquarium salt. Of course, I looked at the tanks. I was looking for dwarf corys, maybe 2 of them to put in my 2.5g since they grow to a max of 1 inch. Didn't find any. So I looked at the other cories and I saw the pandas. Cute. They look like 2-striped loaches. I took a real close look at one that was near the glass. I swear to God, that little guy winked at me! I know fish don't have eyelids, but I know a wink/blink when I see one! I stared at him to see if he'd do it again, but he up and swam away. What gives? Maybe I need a vacation from fish.

My para plec winks at me  . I thought I was crazy the first time he did it but he's done it several times. He makes 'suggestions' with his eyes when he's hungry. I'll peek in at him and he'll lower his eyes to the gravel several times as if to say "ya gonna drop some food in here or not?"

I guess some species do, I've seen it or I wouldn't believe it myself

ah glad someones had the b*lls to post this subject...

my peppered cories have winked at me too on a number of occasions...

my crab justy does the 2 fingered salute...

My cories and my pleco (when he wants to come out) all do it too.
Catfish have the most personality, in my book B) And "winking" just adds to it.

By the way IBB, did you wink back? You can't leave a flirting panda cory hanging like that :p

Hi Itty Bitty Betta :)

Corys only wink at people they like! He wanted you to take him home with you. Hurry and go back and get him........................ ;)

I got 2 more yesterday (Chinese ones) and they are so funky. Not lie the others at all who are also pretty funky. My other ones were really shy for ages but these guys were all over the place, I even see them swimming!!

Sorry to go off topic btw. Hope no-one minds!

I think I will get him, but won't he be lonely?

Hi Itty Bitty Betta :)

Yes, he will. You should really get at least two more of them so they can school.

But remember, these are very small corys and they don't take up much room. While they are not as tiny as the dwarf corys, they are MUCH smaller than the bronze and albinos and, in fact, most of the other corys.

I think you'll be glad you did!
