Well i was cleaning the glass of the divided tank to get water stains off. I use windex and a sponge.
The phone rang so i put the sponge on top of the light.
I came back around half an hour later(i forgot about the cleaning :*) ) and the sponge was in the tank, i quikly removed the sponge, and then put the fish in 1g containers, as i had no where else to put them. I did water changes but nothing could help.
RIP my CT and Light red, spotted VT.

As some as you may know, my Lylac boy mysteriously died. I didn't know why untill i saw my mum use this spray to clean stuff next to his tank.
RIP to him too.

A very sad,
DD :(

Sorry for your loss.

I never use any chemicals other than bleach to clean my tanks. When you use bleach you're always careful not to get any into a running tank.

Sorry DD but accidents happen. We just try not to let them happen again. I feel sorry for your little bettas RIP little fishies..

perhaps you should keep a spraybottle of white vinegar for tank cleaning enterprises? i'm so sorry to hear about your losses DD; its always the worst when it was avoidable, isn't it. :/ i really feel for you.

Why would you use windex to clean a divider for? Your not supposed to use chemicals around or in a fish tank (except bleach) you should have just used a wet sponge to scrap it off not windex.

I was using the windex to clean the water stains off the front of the tank. I'm not an idiot fish keeper who throws chemicals into tanks radomly.
Read more carefully before you make stupid comments.

Thanks to everyone else for their kind words and suggestions. I always take precautions now before cleaning the glass.

Thanks again.

DD

To be totally fair, you weren't completely clear as to where you were actually using the Windex. I thought the same as Durbkat when I first read your post.

In any event, sorry about your fish. Accidents do happen, but it doesn't make you feel any better.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that!! A similar accident happened with two of my bettas a while ago when our cleaning lady who comes once every two weeks used Windex around their tanks :(

I just use regular ol' water and a paper towel to clean water marks off my tanks, it works fine. Maybe you should try this in the future? It's much safer than anything else.

Aww, that is sad. :-( Sorry about your fish.
What I normally do is pray some paper towel with windex in a different room so not to get it in the tank. Then go to scrubbing. Which I do very often. Hard to believe jsut how hard little kids greasy palm prints are to get off, more so when they have food smushed all over them too. :grr:
