I Have Zero's!

zero ammonia and zero nitrIte!!!!!!

At last!!! Been cycling since Friday the 13th July and I finally have the zeros!!!!

Am going to carry on adding ammonia for another week just to make sure everything is going according to plan!

Can you tell I'm just a little excitied??

thats nothing I've just sent my OH a text saying 'my waters have broken!!!!' - I'm not pregnant but I bet is scares the sh1t out of him

... (wish my cycle had only taken 3 weeks... but it was all worthwhile - not one tenth of a ppm of ammonia or nitrite since the fish went in!)

I used bactinettes - so i reckon that speeded up the ammonia part of it quite a lot - I had ammonia dropping to zero within a week, so th nitrIte bit has taken 2 weeks - still fairly rapid though - hence me carrying on with adding ammonia for a while yet - I wanna be sure its not just a one off fluke!!!

I was gonna buy some bactinattes today but i didnt have enough money and I think £5.50 is a bit steep for something im not sure even works

I wouldn't bother. A well executed fishless cycle (i think thats what you're doing from memory) should have no need for bactinettes at all. There is no substitute for patience in this hobby.
