Every time I tell myself that this time will be different because someone else tells me how my previous molly females have just had a bad temprement, I find myself disappointed as yet another tank is taken over by her domineering attitude.

I tried in a fifty, and thirty, and a ten gallon tank, and in every one of them whatever black molly I purchase turns into a monster that attacks whatever plattys I have. EVERY TIME.

Is there something I'm missing, am I completely screwing something up, WHY IS IT ALWAYS THE FEMALE BLACK MOLLY they look so happy at the lfs :(

Don't let that fool you though. Never let that fool you. They lay in wait, BEGGING to give some poor platty stress-caused ich.

I love my black mollies.

I have a 55gal community tank with the following fish:
4 platies, 2 black-2 dalmation-2 silver-1 golddust all mollies, 2 Angel, 3 blood fin tetra, 2 catfish, 2 swordtails, 4 guppies(15 fry in a trap), 2 baby placo and 1 bala shark.

I also have a 10 gal tank with:
2 platies, 2 black mollies, 2 cory cats and 2 neons.

All the fish live peacefully together and seem to get along great. :D

I love my black molly! She is one of the larger fish in my tank and she has the biggest mouth of all!

I love her attitude and the way her black colour over powers the rest of the colours in my tank :D She is the contrast that is needed and i think she makes a great addition ot my tank :D

Maybe you should try more than one molly, give her someone to deal with
I'd rather not try to balance her out in a 10 gal :/

I'm just going to take her back to the lfs, I think, in exchange for another platty or somesuch. Unless they don't want to go for that, in which case they can just keep her :D
