Am I doing something wrong I got one pleco to do real good for me when I first got the first pleco he was a inch long I have had him for 7 months and he is about 8 inches long. So I got me another baby one and I havent had any luck getting him to start growing I feed mine shrimp pellets and alge wafers I have had this baby for 5 months or so and he hasnt growed not one inch he looks very healthy he just isnt growing are they anything I could do to mabey get him started growing some.

Try feeding some whole mussels, they are high in protein and plecs love them, just remember to remove anything that hasn't been eaten after about 4 hours as decomposing mussels can seriously foul your water.

what is that and where do I buy it at I have never heard of it before is it some kinda of meat or something

Mussels are a shellfish (seafood),you can either buy fresh ones from fishmongers/supermarket or buy frozen ones from the fish shop.

i am not a big seafood fan as anyone can tell I never could stand the thoughts of eating something that comes out of the water any kind of meat for that matter I just dont believe in killing something and eating it, but thats just me I know I wouldnt like to be killed so someone can eat. they are to much other stuff people can eat besides animals and fish but thanks for the advice catfish crazy you have been a big help to me with my balas and I will take your word on the pleco to. I just cant figure out why this one hasnt growed any when I got the first one to grow like crazy I knew all I done with my big pleco was fed him alge wafers and shrimp pellets and he has done great.

all I know is the sign at the fish store said common pleco if that helps any but he sure wont grow any at all.

I have a similar situation. When i bought my sailfin pleco about 6 or 7 months ago he was about an inch long. Today he's only about 4 inchs. But about 2 months ago i bout a 1 inch gibbiceps pleco and today he's nearly 3 inch long. I think so go, and some dont.
