much to my surprise I have found a baby glass/ghost shrimp in my tank about 3/8ths an inch in size.

I'm happy to let nature decide what happens but I need to ask, how many young would shrimp have at a time?

I remember "native american" (user - can't remember exact spelling) has a couple of good threads on breeding these. If you do a search for that, bit might be of help :good:

I have no idea....

But may i ask...where did you get freshwater ghost shrimp from in Scotland and how much were they? All I've ever seen are amano, bamboo and 'freshwater' shrimp('the freshwater shrimp were the killer shrimp). And i have been looking for non-expensive shrimp to live in my triops tank until they are big enough to go into my main tank(syno might eat them) and then later into my planted tank when i set that up.
I've only been able to find brackish ghost shrimp sold as feeders...and i don't want to risk any more expensive amano shrimp -_- :/ .

ok I'm actually ashamed to say this, but it was house of pisces in dundee. its the last time I ever buy live stock from the store though - out of 10 neons I have had 3 survive. I know they can be poor at handling change but I'm still suspicious of their quality due to the state of their tanks.

but I got 3 glass shrimp, 1 male 2 female for £10 (meant to be 4 squid each but I convinced him otherwise).

is sooooo cool watching the eat as you see the food getting chewed up and passing into the organs, then them moving about as it is processed.

cheers for the info bloo

£4 for ghost shrimp -_- . Amano shrimp are cheaper than that! :/
Being in the UK sucks when you want ghost shrimp, most people get them for the equivalent of 15p each  .

I got Amano and Red/Yellow nosed shrimp from a place in Stirling. £10 for 4 though :/

I've never seen any red or yellow nosed shrimp in shops, if i did i would buy them for my nano planted :hyper:. IMO £10 for 4 is an especially good price for red/yellow nosed shrimp and the norm amano shrimp. Someone needs to do something about the prices of shrimp in Scotland :/ .
When i got my amanos, they were £3.80 each. Everywhere else had them for around £2.50 but the ones i got were fully grown.

three-fingers, what would you say is the best shop in the east of scotland? especially for tanganyikan cichlids. i can't find a decent selection anywhere! aquatic rooms, the one in Gorgie/Dalry, tried riverside aquatics in west lothian, tried "the aquarium" in falkirk. everywhere really!

i was thinking about going through to Glasgow, DarkEntity what's the best shop in Glasgow? I've heard there are a few on Paisley road.

And on shrimp... I have only ever seen amano/ algae shrimp in shops in Scotland and the cheapest i had ever seen them was at about £2.50 each, which was at the pet shop in Bathgate!

To be honest, i dont really know what a decent selection of tanganyikans would look like :look: . But other than the two in Edinburgh you listed i frequently visit the aquatic center (15/17 Comely Green Place, called 'Aquacadebera2' on the front) and Dobbies garden centre. I dont know if you've looked but although i've not been(yet) UDA in Fife seems to be massive so could have what your looking for.
