i have always wondered why bettas need a bare bottom i have never got an answer for it. so the question issssssss.
why d bettas need a bare bottom.
thankyou

Bettas do not need a bare bottom. Some prefer it because it is easier to keep clean, and if you plan on breeding it is easier to find eggs, clean, and fry dont get stuck. I personally keep a bare bottom for the easier-to-clean reason. But it does not matter. Most people keep gravel because it shows their bettas colours more, and looks pretty in the tank. And it copies their natural environment. But once more, it does not matter at all, it has no effect on your fish what-so-ever (unless it is toxic)

Most betta keepers have gravel etc in there tanks its only the spawning tanks that need to be bare so that when they pair spawn he can see the eggs and collect them all up. I do know that some breeders have gravel in their spawning tanks but put a small glass plate under the nest for the eggs to fall onto

Yeah, I use pebbles/gravel because it looks nicer (IMO) then nothing at the bottom. ;)
But it's not necessary; they can do fine with nothing there. I just prefer it because it looks nicer to me. LOL.
& it's fun 'cause I pick the colors that look good with my Betta! LOL

:hyper: that sounds as if bettas should wear knickers!!
I use the glass pebbles in most of mine as they are easier to clean saying that one of them has sand in and thats not too bad! :hyper:
