I recently had a BGA outbreak, which I treated through anti-bacterial means. Some did not think this was a good idea, and, through considering this feedback, I definitely don't want to repeat this treatment. As I think back to the outbreak, it may have occured after the use of a five day release feeder, packed in a jelly like substance. I have also used the chalk-like feeders. From what I have read, I would think such means of feeding the fish can lead to this outbreak, as I can't always find the remianing part of these feeders. Now, I have to go away again, this time for more time. What can you recommend outside of an automatic feeder? I do weekly water changes, so the feeder being left in there makes more sense than poor water quality in general being responsible. I also use a turkey baster to move everything around as I vacuum. At any rate, what feeder would you recommend, or what alternatives, based on 5 days?

Based on 5 days I would just not feed at all. The fish won't be affected, then feed the day you get back. when I go on hols I get my Dad to come and feed them once in the middle of a 14 day holiday!!!
