I Have A Question About Driftwood

i duck hunt on an island on the mississippi river and there is alot of driftwood washing up on the sand beach. can i pick some up for aqurium and what do i have to do to it? how do i make it sink? and what type to use/not use?

Personally, I would go ahead and give it a try. Boil it and/or soak it in a bucket first before putting it in the tank.

I just added some that my kids and I collected rock hopping the river near us. Use a stiff brush first to get all loose bits and soft parts off. ( I had to cut out the soft bits on mine). Then boil for at least an hour to kill off anything hidind inside and sterilize it and release tannins. After you're done check it again and put it in water to saturate it or attach it to slate to keep it from floating.
