every now and then it goes head up tail down in the water and twitches its head, like it was in a trance, then goes back to normal swimming, it is the only fish i have ever seen doing this, should i be worried ?
I had the same problem about 2 months ago with one of my lyretails. No one on here seemed to know what the problem was.
At first he only did it every so often but near the end he was doing it like every 5 minutes. He'd even be swimming normally near the top then all of a sudden go tail down and shake and fall towards the bottom. Then all of a sudden he was swimming normal again. The top of his head lost coloring and it seemed to loose the slime coating as well.
He was skinny and had what I thought was hole in the head (not sure) so I treated with a bacterial medication which didn't help and he just got worse. I ended up euthanizing him cause I just couldn't stand to watch him suffer.
Since then his friend my other lyretail passed away...for reasons unknown. He lost coloring on his head too just like the other lyretail and just became listless.
If anyone knows of a condition mollies suffer from...I'd love to know!!
well i made a strong solution of various medicines including whitespot plus, and a parasite one, left it in it for a min, then left it in a net for 24 hours and its back to 100% it has not done that head up thing since, and seems like a new fish, totally happy and full of beans
